The Initial General Meeting of the Wellington Youth Events Society Incorporated occurred on the 25th of October 2019. Minutes of the meeting can be found here.

The IGM served in part to elect the Society’s Board of Directors. The following individuals were elected to the Board of Directors:

  • Jackson Lacy (Chair)
  • Olivia Trass (Secretary)
  • George Lewis Garnett (Treasurer)
  • Allegra Preddey
  • Bethany Kaye-Blake
  • Lexie Steele
  • Lilly Zhang

The Wellington Youth Events Society (WYESI) will serve the purpose of supporting the organisation, governance, and welfare of youth events in Wellington like TEDxYouth@TeAro. It will be run by a Board of Directors, the election of whom occurs at the IGM.

Notice of Special (Initial) General Meeting

Notice is hereby given under clause 12.2 of the proposed Constitution of the Wellington Youth Events Society of an Special (Initial) General Meeting of the Society, to be held at 4 p.m. on Friday 25 October 2019, at the Victoria University of Wellington School of Business in room RHMZ02.

Voting by proxy is reserved for those whose reasoning is deemed legitimate by our team, such as if you are out of Wellington at the time of the IGM. Notice of Elections

Notice is hereby given under clause 12.2.1 of the aforementioned proposed Constitution of elections to be held for the following positions:

  • (1) Chair
  • (1) Secretary
  • (1) Treasurer
  • (4) General Members

The Chair is responsible for:
Ensuring that the Constitution and Protocols are followed;
Convening meetings and establishing whether or not a quorum is present;
Chairing meetings;
Overseeing the operation of the Society;
Managing the Board’s work programme;
Providing a report on the operations of the Society at each Annual General Meeting.

The Secretary is responsible for;
Recording the minutes of meetings;
Keeping the Register of Members;
Holding the Society’s records, documents, and books;
Receiving and replying to correspondence;
Liaising with the Registrar of Incorporated Societies.

The Treasurer is responsible for;
Keeping proper accounting records of the Society’s financial transactions;
Preparing annual financial statements for presentation at each Annual General Meeting;
Providing a financial report at each Annual General Meeting;
Providing financial information to the Board as the Board determines.

General Members are responsible for;
Administering and controlling the Society in accordance with the Constitution and Protocols;
Updating the Strategic Plan and carrying out the tasks and responsibilities listed therein;
Managing the day-to-day affairs of the Society nationwide.
Members shall also conduct any reasonable agreed-upon work in the interests of the Society or of an Event.

Notice of Proposed Constitutional Amendments

Notice is hereby given under clause 20.3, of a proposed constitutional amendment.

The amendment is proposed by Jackson Lacy, and consists of the proposed Constitution of the Society.
